The Director of Sales plays a key role in further developing the company’s market share. The objective is to generate new business revenues from new sales prospects. The Director helps manage a team to close new contracts for underwriting and portfolio product sales to Banks, Credit Unions, Captive Lenders, Innovative / Fintech Lenders and Commercial Finance Companies. Key success factors are to motivate the direct selling team in order to generate a high level of sales activity and to move prospects through the sales cycle towards contract proposals and sales closes. The Director must be able to mentor sellers to engage the prospect, frame and define business and non-business issues, devise and implement strategic sales plans, provide options, outline new and improved ways of conducting business, and closing a contract to use the products and services.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for reaching individual and team goal.
Managing, and growing team sales pipeline
Manage own individual pipeline if applicable
Managing consistent pipeline reviews with team
Negotiate prices, features, and specifications
Up-selling plan for each client for additional strategic product/services
Assist in training the Sales Team on the product and business processes.
Assist in closing new business.
Networking and prospecting among targeted territories, and companies.
Identify and evaluate (with support from Marketing) new and existing channels for sourcing leads, including industry events, conferences, associations, social media…
Identify key decision makers and cultivate relationships with senior executives
Ability to explain and sell complex products/services
Ensure that the sales person can manage a sales process from inception to contract close
Determining involvement of Senior Management in Sales Cycle
Ensure sales people know how to present and close sales contracts
Weekly team reporting
Identifying top target prospects accounts Nationally and build out a plan to engage and close them
Assist in building individual and team plans
Run meetings that bring together the prospect with subject matter experts
Create and make presentations on issues and solutions to groups
Maintain and manage sales pipeline, in SalesForce
Setting team travel plans
Share sales and market feedback with senior management to help guide focus and investment
10+ years sales/business development experience with prior management experience
BA/BS degree required; MBA preferred
Demonstrated success with consultative selling approach and account development at the “C” level
Experience in managing major accounts within the lending industry
Excellent communication (written, listening and presentation) skills with the ability to uncover and solve for business issues and deliver clear and concise messages and presentations in a professional manner
The ability to thrive in high pressure, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Track records of success in over-achieving goals, building relationships, and running major projects
A self-starting, team-oriented, and innovative attitude focused on consistently delivering high quality results
The ability to contribute and foster creative ideas
Administrative effectiveness in tracking prospects, follow-up on calls, and recording prospect contact information and interactions
Travel will be required to conduct the duties and responsibilities of this position.
